Slippage settings significantly impact your trade outcomes on Axiom Trade. This guide explains how to configure them correctly.

What Is Slippage?

Slippage is the difference between the expected price of a trade and the actual execution price. On DEXs, slippage occurs because price moves between when you submit a transaction and when it executes.

How Slippage Tolerance Works

When you set a slippage tolerance on Axiom Trade (e.g., 5%), you're saying: "I'm willing to accept an execution price up to 5% worse than the current quote." If slippage exceeds your tolerance, the transaction fails.

Recommended Settings by Scenario

Regular Trading (Established Tokens): 0.5–2%

Established tokens with good liquidity have less price impact. Lower slippage reduces your risk of bad fills.

New Token Launches: 5–15%

High volatility and thin order books require higher slippage tolerance. You need enough tolerance for the transaction to succeed.

Sniping: 10–25%

For competitive sniping, you often need very high slippage tolerance to ensure your transaction executes ahead of others. Balance this with priority fees.

Low Liquidity Tokens: 10%+

Tokens with thin liquidity have high price impact. Higher slippage tolerance is necessary.

Anti-Sandwich Warning

High slippage can make you vulnerable to sandwich attacks (MEV). Axiom Trade provides anti-MEV options — use them when setting high slippage tolerances.

Practical Recommendation

Set default slippage to 1–2% in your Axiom Trade settings, then override per-trade when needed for volatile or low-liquidity tokens.
